A group of security researchers at SimTech Corp., creator of SimOS, have recently confirmed that Viper Antivirus, a program that claims to be an antivirus and which is bundled with the outdated media software OldPlayer, functions as malware, phishing, adware, trojan virus software, keylogger, and phishing software.
Upon installation, either by an unsuspecting user or a user who left the bundled bloatware box checked in the OldPlayer Installer, the program starts sending the product key and most other files in the $SYS folder to the malicious server through a series of proxy servers and zombie computers (sometimes made into zombie computers by Viper Antivirus). It then routinely sends the user notifications to upgrade to its premium plan.
